Custom Shopify app development,at a fixed price.

Get admin apps, theme app extensions and ERP or warehouse syncs built with tests and screenshots on every pull request.

Pento builds the Shopify work your engineers keep pushing to next quarter, from checkout and order automation to B2B and wholesale flows, on Steer by Pento, the platform we run every project on. Forward deployed engineers write the spec and agents build on branches in your GitHub.
Illustrative Steer project building a custom Shopify app. Three surfaces light up as their goals are verified: an admin app embedded in Shopify for wholesale price lists, a theme app extension that adds a back-in-stock block to the product page, and webhooks that send each new order to the ERP and the warehouse. A test strip fills in alongside: admin end-to-end tests pass, a storefront screenshot is attached, and a webhook replay passes 48 of 48 events.

A fixed price, or a team

One price for an app with a clear scope, in writing before any code exists. A longer Shopify roadmap can go to a Pento team of forward deployed engineers.

A custom app on your store

The code is in your GitHub from the first commit, and your engineers can read it, run it and change it.

Screenshots and replays on each PR

Storefront changes come with screenshots and syncs with replayed webhook events, attached to the pull request before anything merges.

What is custom Shopify app development?

Custom Shopify app development is building an app for one store or organization rather than for the public App Store: admin screens embedded in Shopify, theme app extensions on the storefront, and webhooks and APIs that keep orders, inventory and customers in sync with your ERP, warehouse and PIM. Pento builds custom Shopify apps on Steer by Pento, at a fixed price or with a Pento team of forward deployed engineers, with the code in your GitHub.

Why the backlog stays full

Your Shopify roadmap is longer than your team.

Your engineers own the storefront and the roadmap. The wholesale flow, the ERP sync and the admin screen ops keeps asking for sit in the backlog, or get patched with one more app subscription that almost fits. Agencies quote in hours, and the estimate keeps growing.
Custom apps

The App Store app that almost fits

TodayMonthly subscription · their roadmap · workarounds for the rest
On SteerBuilt for your process · code in your GitHub · fixed price

Public apps are a good deal when your process matches theirs. When it doesn't, the gaps turn into manual steps and spreadsheets. A custom app does the part you need, inside the Shopify admin your team already uses.

Integrations

Orders, stock and an ERP that disagree

TodayMiddleware seats · nightly CSV · someone reconciling by hand
On SteerWebhooks and APIs · replay-tested · alerts when a sync fails

Orders created in Shopify need to reach the ERP and the warehouse, and stock needs to come back. We build the sync on Shopify's webhooks and Admin API, replay real order events in tests, and connect to the ERP you run: NetSuite, SAP, Odoo, Dynamics or your own.

Some AI work pays for itself on a storefront: search that understands how shoppers describe products, recommendations ranked on your own data, and storefronts that AI shopping agents can read and buy from. We build those where the numbers justify it.

How it runs on Steer

Each surface is a goal, built in its own session.

Steer by Pento splits the app into goals with acceptance criteria: one for the admin screen, one for the storefront block, one for each sync. Each goal runs in its own session: an agent in a fresh, isolated sandbox reads the spec, writes the code on a branch in your GitHub and attaches the evidence. The work is tested against a development store before anything reaches your live one.
  1. 01

Spec it with the people who run the store

Ops, merchandising and finance know the rules the app has to follow. When a goal needs a conversation, Steer writes the interview and they take it in the browser; the answers become versioned context.

  2. 02

    Independent goals run in parallel

Goals are ordered by what depends on what, so the admin screen, the storefront block and each webhook build at the same time unless one needs another.

  3. 03

    Webhooks replayed, storefronts screenshotted

Sync goals come back with replayed webhook events and their results. Storefront goals come back with screenshots of the block on the page.

  4. 04

    Verified on your default branch

A merged goal counts as verified only when CI is green on your default branch.

Illustrative Steer session for one goal of a custom Shopify app: the back-in-stock block, a theme app extension on the product page. An agent reads the spec, edits the block, runs the tests on a development store, attaches a screenshot to pull request 305, and a review model confirms the change conforms to the spec. The merge policy rates it low risk, so it merges on a green review and CI.
Evidence

Anything that touches your ERP waits for a person.

Every pull request carries an evidence report: the acceptance criteria it meets, the tests and replays that ran, screenshots of anything on screen, and the verdict of a review model that did not write the code. Merges follow the policy you set.
  • Risk decides who merges

Low-risk changes merge on a green review and CI. A change that writes to an external system, such as your ERP or warehouse, asks a person first.

  • A seat from day one

Your team gets a seat in the same Steer workspace: progress, spend, speed and the record of every decision, as it happens.

Illustrative evidence report for one pull request, PR #307, Sync orders to ERP: three acceptance criteria confirmed, a replay of 48 of 48 orders/create webhook events, 61 tests passed, an approve verdict with no findings, CI passed, and a merge that waits for a person because the change writes to an external system.
What you get

What every Shopify app project includes

The app, and everything your team needs to trust it and keep it. The scope is written down before the price is, and the price before any code.

Every custom Shopify app project ships with:

A written spec with acceptance criteria for every goal, agreed before any code exists
A written quote before the build starts: a fixed price for a clear scope, or a monthly fee for a Pento team
A custom app installed on your store, with the code in your GitHub
Screenshots for storefront changes and replayed webhook events for syncs, on the pull requests that need them
Integrations with your ERP, warehouse or PIM through their APIs, with alerts when a sync fails
A seat for your team in the Steer workspace from day one
Stories

The factory behind your app, already shipping.

These weren't Shopify apps. They ran on the same Steer loop your app would, and client names stay private.

How we engage

Two ways to work with us. Neither is hourly.

Both start with the free audit, which sets the scope and the shape of the team.
Monthly · set by pod size

A team we build for you

Pento forms a pod of forward deployed engineers for your work, for example four engineers or whatever machine learning, software, DevOps and MLOps talent you need. They work with Steer alongside, and the fee depends on the pod's size.

Best for
An ongoing roadmap, a large project such as a migration, or scope that will change as you learn
Who carries the risk
Shared: you set the priorities, and we own how the work is built and the evidence that it's done
Talk to us about a team
One price · a clear scope

A fixed-price project

For integrations and smaller projects you can scope up front. After the free audit we write the scope with you as goals with acceptance criteria and fix the price. Evidence on every pull request shows when each goal is done.

Best for
Integrations and smaller projects with a clear scope. First projects ship in weeks
